<<箴言 Proverbs 18:4,6-7>>
人口中的言語如同深水；智慧的泉源好像湧流的河水。...愚昧人張嘴啟爭端, 開口招鞭打。愚昧人的口自取敗壞；他的嘴是他生命的網羅。
The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. ... A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
<<雅各書 James 3:5-6>>
這樣, 舌頭在百體裏也是最小的, 卻能說大話。看哪, 最小的火能點著最大的樹林。舌頭就是火, 在我們百體中, 舌頭是個罪惡的世界, 能污穢全身, 也能把生命的輪子點起來, 並且是從地獄裏點著的。
Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

<<箴言 Proverbs 6:16-19,12:22>>
6:16-19 耶和華所恨惡的有六樣, 連他心所憎惡的共有七樣:就是高傲的眼, 撒謊的舌, 流無辜人血的手, 圖謀惡計的心, 飛跑行惡的腳, 吐謊言的假見證, 並弟兄中布散紛爭的人。
12:22 說謊言的嘴為耶和華所憎惡；行事誠實的, 為他所喜悅。
6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
12:22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.

<<箴言 Proverbs 26:26-28>>
他雖用詭詐遮掩自己的怨恨, 他的邪惡必在會中顯露。挖陷坑的, 自己必掉在其中；滾石頭的, 石頭必反滾在他身上。虛謊的舌恨他所壓傷的人；諂媚的口敗壞人的事。
His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him. A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

所以, 你們要棄絕謊言, 各人與鄰舍說實話, 因為我們是互相為肢體。
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

10:19 多言多語難免有過；禁止嘴唇是有智慧。
14:23 諸般勤勞都有益處；嘴上多言乃致窮乏。
14:3 愚妄人口中驕傲, 如杖責打己身；
21:23 謹守口與舌的, 就保守自己免受災難。
19:28 匪徒作見證戲笑公平；
12:18 說話浮躁的, 如刀刺人；智慧人的舌頭卻為醫人的良藥。
22:14 淫婦的口為深坑；耶和華所憎惡的, 必陷在其中。
10:19 When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.
14:23 All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
14:3 A fool's talk brings a rod to his back,
21:23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.
19:28 A corrupt witness mocks at justice,
12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
22:14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.

29:11 愚妄人怒氣全發；智慧人忍氣含怒。
15:28 義人的心, 思量如何回答；惡人的口吐出惡言。
15:1 回答柔和, 使怒消退；言語暴戾, 觸動怒氣。
29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
15:28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
<<雅各書 James 1:19-20>>
你們各人要快快的聽, 慢慢的說, 慢慢的動怒, 因為人的怒氣並不成就神的義。
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

11:13 往來傳舌的, 洩漏密事；心中誠實的, 遮隱事情。
17:9 遮掩人過的, 尋求人愛；屢次挑錯的, 離間密友。
20:19 往來傳舌的, 洩漏密事；大張嘴的, 不可與他結交。
26:20 火缺了柴就必熄滅；無人傳舌, 爭競便止息。
26:22 傳舌人的言語, 如同美食, 深入人的心腹。
30:10 你不要向主人讒謗僕人, 恐怕他咒詛你, 你便算為有罪。
11:13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.
17:9 He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
20:19 A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.
26:20 Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.
26:22 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.
30:10 Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.

16:24 良言如同蜂房, 使心覺甘甜, 使骨得醫治。
12:25 人心憂慮, 屈而不伸；一句良言, 使心歡樂。
15:7 智慧人的嘴播揚知識；愚昧人的心並不如此。
10:21 義人的口教養多人；愚昧人因無知而死亡。
10:11 義人的口是生命的泉源；強暴蒙蔽惡人的口。
12:6 惡人的言論是埋伏流人的血；正直人的口必拯救人。
15:1 回答柔和, 使怒消退；言語暴戾, 觸動怒氣。
15:23 口善應對, 自覺喜樂；話合其時, 何等美好。
15:30 眼有光, 使心喜樂；好信息, 使骨滋潤。
16:24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
12:25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, put a kind word cheers him up.
15:7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.
10:21 The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment.
10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.
12:6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.
15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
15:23 A man finds joy in giving an apt reply—and how good is a timely word!
15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

<<雅各書 James 3:11-12>>
泉源從一個眼裏能發出甜苦兩樣的水嗎？我的弟兄們, 無花果樹能生橄欖嗎？葡萄樹能結無花果嗎？鹹水裏也不能發出甜水來。
Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
